Heat Experience

Saunarium
The sauna effect has been enjoyed almost since the discovery of fire itself. The saunarium is the modern interpretation of the way the Romans liked to commence their bathing sessions. Operating at a temperature not exceeding 50C, the heat is there to soothe and relax tired minds and bodies

Aromatherapy Room
The Romans liked to commence their bathing sessions in the “Tepidarium” before progressing onto the hotter “Lanconium” which was normally heated to around 90ºC.

We have “re-invented” the Tepidarium and added the benefit of natural aromatherapy essences to further soothe and relax tired minds and bodies. The aromatherapy room is heated to a comfortable 30-35ºC, which is warm, but not normally hot enough to induce perspiration. less severe than the Sauna. With humidity around 30–40%, conditions are achieved which can provide the benefits of both sauna and steam, for those who prefer their bathing experiences in a less demanding environment. Aromas are introduced into the Saunarium automatically to further enhance that bathing experience.

Salt Vapour Room
The Salt Vapour room is a further enhancement of the steam room. It has a typical operating temperature of 40-45ºC, with virtually 100% humidity. The beneficial quality of the “softer” heat and increased humidity is augmented by the introduction of salt water mist which emits negative ions, to help alleviate respiratory and sinus problems. Salt water mist also has a positive affect upon the skin by strengthening its connective tissues, to make the skin smoother and help relieve the symptoms of dry or sensitive skin. The warm salt water mist aids breathing and promotes a sense of wellbeing. The benefits are similar to a walk along the beach, to experience the sea spray and that crisp and clean aroma.

Monsoon Feature Shower
The Monsoon shower is the perfect way to cool down or rinse off between heat treatments, offering either "tropical" warmth or “arctic” cool, at the push of a button. The experience can be further enhanced with the addition of an aromatherapy air distribution system, which allows stimulating essential oils to be infused into the shower area.

Ice Cave
The Ice Cave is an enclosure, where the user can take handfuls of ice flakes from the continuously fed ice bowl, to rub into the skin, closing the pores and allowing the body to cool down quickly after experiencing a hot room treatment, based upon the old Finnish custom of rolling in the snow.

Foot Spa
What better way to relax in between enjoying a variety of heat experiences than to use the time to have the feet gently massaged in warm bubbling water. This time can be very beneficial and also allows the body to adjust naturally after any heat treatment experience.
The foot spa is filled using a thermostatic mixer tap to the temperature required by the user. The bench is tiled and heated allowing the user to be totally relaxed throughout the experience.

Outdoor Hot Tub
Made from Alaskan cedar wood, our hot tub will hold up to six guests and is located in the spa garden, a few steps from the indoor heat experience facilities.  From here, you’ll overlook the spa garden and enjoy a view over to Helmsley Castle.

Outdoor Heated Pool
Open all year round the pool is very much the centre of our secluded courtyard area.    It’s ……. long and up to 2m deep.  There’s nothing quite like the feeling of swimming in a heated pool whilst breathing fresh, cool air.

Rasul
The Rasul Bath is a specialist treatment sequence which allows the users to apply a variety of mineral muds to the body, before enjoying a relaxing steam experience, with a typical operating temperature normally in the region of 40-45ºC, with virtually 100% humidity and infused with natural aromatherapy oils, to provide a truly invigorating experience.

The treatment takes approximately 35 minutes, which commences with the self application of mineral mud to the body.
And then relax upon heated individual throne seats and acclimatise to the steam environment for three minutes before the light levels diminish and a truly tranquil steam experience continues for a further 20 minutes with the infusion of aromatherapy oils. The steam mist clears as the light levels increase and thermostatically controlled warm water gently cascades from the ceiling, to gently wash the mineral mud from the body. The Rasul treatment is complete once the showers are automatically switched off.
